

Elizabeth (Betty) Edna Michalski (née Croucher), 97, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at Parkland at the Gardens on July 22, surrounded by family. Born in Halifax on July 21, 1928, she was the daughter of George Croucher of Burnt Island, Newfoundland, and Florence Minnie Croucher (née Burton) of Birmingham, England.
Betty was a graduate of Q.E. High School and earned her degree from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. A devoted educator, she began her career at Cornwallis Jr. High School and spent over 30 years teaching chemistry at Halifax West High School. She loved playing bridge at Halifax Bridge World, earning many Master Points Betty found great joy in spending time with her two daughters and six grandchildren, especially during trips to Queensland Beach.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Michalski, her parents, and her brother Max Croucher of Sarasota, FL. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Murphy (Greenwood Village, CO) and Rose Giles (Toronto, ON); and her grandchildren: Alexander, Jacqueline, Julia, and Jillian Murphy, and Wolf and Josephine Giles.
A private family service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery.
