The family of Nickie Eisenhauer wishes to announce her peaceful passing on December 21, 2011. Born in St. Stephen, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Cecil (Coleman) Nicholson. She attended St. Stephen High School, Kings College University, and Modern Business College, Saint John, NB. Nickie spent her life in selfless duty to others from the raising of her two children to a lifetime commitment of volunteering. She was a long time active member of Guiding in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia with 61 years of service. Here at home, she served on Provincial Program Committee, was an Area Commissioner for Pictou, a District and Division Commissioner in Dartmouth and a member of Lunenburg, Pictou and Dartmouth Trefoil Guilds, serving as President of the Lunenburg and Dartmouth Guilds. She was the Nova Scotia Advisor in 1998 when Nova Scotia hosted the National Gathering of Trefoil Guilds. In addition to receiving The Girl Guides of Canada Certificate of Merit, this past fall she was presented with the highest honour in Nova Scotia Guiding, the Provincial Mayflower Award. Nickie was awarded the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002.
Nickie was a special person who always commanded attention from her late night debates to her happy travels on the Royal Scotsman Midnight Express. She is survived by her husband Bill of 55 years, daughter Susan (Bob) Williams of Dartmouth, son David (Debbie) of Hammonds Plains, brothers Fred (Judy) Nicholson of St. Stephen and David (Nancy) Nicholson of Quispamsis, NB. Gran Gran's pride and joy were her three grandchildren Sarah, Justin, and Connor. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. We are grateful to all who touched Nickie in her brief time in medical care. A special thanks to Margie, Chris, Yvonne, and Bernadette for such compassion in the short time she was on 5A and 5B at the QEII.
Funeral service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 3 Dakin Drive Birch Cove, Halifax on Wednesday December 28th at 2:00pm with Reverend David Dellapinna officiating.
