MACISAAC, Ethel Teresa - April 1, 1928-July 3, 2011. Devoted mother, beloved wife, cherished sister. Surrounded by family during the last weeks of her life, Ethel passed away on July 3, 2011 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her family was the greatest source of joy in her life. She achieved academic excellence and became one of the first group of co-eds to graduate from St. Dunstan's University and went on to receive an MSW from the Maritime School of Social Work (Dalhousie University). This led to a fulfilling career in social work in Montreal where she and Frank MacDonald raised three daughters. Ethel returned to the Maritimes and settled in Halifax with her second husband Allister MacIsaac. She will be remembered for her clever sense of humour, quick wit and engaging stories. Ethel was fortunate to enjoy enduring relationships with special friends who remained close to her heart throughout her life. She always looked forward to returning to her Island home in the summer. The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers of the Community Health Unit at the Halifax Infirmary. Ethel is lovingly remembered by her daughters Heather (Roger) Jones, Lynn (Mike) Kardas, Joan (Derek) Rose, her husband Allister MacIsaac and stepchildren Stephanie, John and families, her grandchildren Jeff, Katie, Spencer and Wesley, brother Bob and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 11th, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Church in Charlottetown, PEI, followed by a reception in the Church hall.
