Evelyn was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia to Pearl and Fred Clarke.
She was their first born and became big sister to Fred , Darlene and Colleen. Siblings who were always there for each other - even as Evelyn drew her last breath.
Evelyn grew up in Sydney, but moved to Calgary at the young age of 18 and built a wonderful life. She worked at the Bank of Montreal as Branch Manager for 25 years and then moved to Enmax Power Corporation, as a supervisor.
She raised two sons Colin and Michael and loved travelling with them from rink to rink playing the role of hockey mom. But mostly, she loved being their mom.
Not only was she an amazing mother, but she was a force like no other. She instilled in us determination and optimism and taught us the power of love and family. She enjoyed a number of activities including bingo, golf, and bowling. She came home often to visit her family and always made time to join her mother at the Bingo Hall.
Sadly, her mother passed away 2 years ago, but she continued to come home every summer to visit her father and her brother with whom she shared a special bond. She also loved coming home to golf with her sisters. It didn't matter what she scored. She was just so happy to spend time with the girls and the great golf friends she met over the years.
Along with her mother Pearl, Evelyn was predeceased by her son Michael Edwards and her husband Glen Arbuckle. There are so many family members still here on this earth who love Evelyn and will keep her memory alive. Her son Colin Edwards who was at her bedside in her final moments. She 'II be remembered by her step daughter Kaila Arbuckle and her partner Harry Morgan, her grandchildren Summer and Maverik Morgan, her siblings Fred Clarke, Darlene Baxter and Colleen Graham and Colleen's husband Aubrey. Evelyn was blessed with a tribe of nieces and nephews: Matthew, Lindsay, Courtney, Carrie, Julia, Brandon, Kyle, and Victoria.
Evelyn passed after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. She was so strong, and always so positive.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her Oncologist, Dr Snow and her nurse, Beth for their care and compassion, as they made the daily struggle a little easier.
Evelyn was only 66 when she passed. Too young to leave us, but we take some comfort in knowing she loved life and she lived it to the fullest with a warm and loving heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Words of comfort and to see the obituary, please refer to JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
A Celebration of Life, will be held in Calgary at a later date.
