

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Francis Gordon (Frank) Power, 91, of a Herring Cove, NS, on Nov 7, 2014 at the Halifax New Infirmary. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Fred and Jean (Baker) Power. Frank worked with Customs and Immigration for 30 years, the majority of time was spent at Pier 21. He kept in touch with many of his friends well into his retirement. He especially enjoyed his 6 month work term in Germany helping to process Canadian military returning to Canada. It was at this time that "Francie" and Kay began to enjoy the many years of travel to Europe, San Francisco, and Florida. His love for family was always most important to him. Francie enjoyed fixing just about everything, always had a project on the go and loved to be out in the yard. He especially enjoyed his laptop keeping in touch with everyone through Skype. He is survived by his daughters Brenda (Wolfgang) Ziemer and Mary Jane (Rick)Brackett, sons Alan (Margie) Power and Joe (Debbie) Power. He is also survived by brother Doug (Flossie) Power , sister Helen (Joe) La Pierre and sister in law, Viola Power, loving grandchildren Wendy, Lori, Katie, Karl, Julie, Jennifer, Jessica and Caitlin and adored great grand children Wesley, Lianna and Benjamin, many nieces and nephews. "Francie" was predeceased by his wife Kay (Kathleen Hazeldine) of 57 years and brother Kenny. In keeping with Frank's wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral service, under the direction of JA Snow's Funeral Home, will take place 11:00 am Thursday Nov 13 at St. Michael's Church, Spryfield, Father Alfred officiating with reception to follow in the church hall.
