It is with great sadness that the family of Francis (Frank) Edward Meagher of Halifax announce his passing on August 2, 2021, at the age of 78 surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Halifax on August 25, 1942, he was predeceased by his father George Albert Meagher, mother Marjorie, stepfather Earl White and sister-in-law Ann Kane. Survived by his loving wife of 55 years Olga (Poulos) Meagher, son David (Lana) and grandsons Colton and Chad, son Chris (Carrie) and granddaughters Ashley and Paige. Also survived by his sister-in-law Helen Poulos, sister Janet Ferguson, brother David White (Beverley), and sister Carol White-Ritcey (Jim), dear nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends. Frank had a long successful career in the wholesale business with C. E. Choat and Company and since 1989 as Owner and Operator of a ship chandler company, Walmar Atlantic (Halifax) where he was well respected by the Navy Stewards. Frank was a true family man who always took an active part in his sons’ and grandchildren’s lives. He was a loyal friend to many. Everyone who knew him loved his fun-loving spirit, practical jokes, contagious laughter, and how he brought the best out in everyone. Frank was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and always put others first. Frank and Olga loved to travel and his favourite places were on the beach in Siesta Key, Florida and Cavendish Beach, P.E.I. with his family, and welcoming friends and family at their cottage in Porters Lake. He was an amazing man and a force of positive energy, which is why his loss is felt so deeply by so many. A small celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
