Frederick 'Fred' Rumsey

It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Fred on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII.

He was born in Halifax on May 21, 1931, and is the last surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Ethel Rumsey; his wife, Geraldine Rumsey; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Marguerite Rumsey; his sister, Faye Johnson and his first wife, Shirley Rumsey.

He was a devoted husband, father, gramps/grampie/puppie and friend. Always kind, thoughtful, caring, generous and dedicated to his family. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Micheal) MacKenzie and Holly Rumsey; stepsons, Steve (Rosalind) Gallant and Brian (Cheryl) Gallant and stepdaughter, Gail Maddison; grandchildren, Erika, Jenna, Stephen, Haley, Matthew, Michael, Jacquelyn, Jill and Marnie, and six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 1-4 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral service will take place on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11 am and reception to follow at J.A. Snow Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Marshall officiating followed by a private interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Stewiacke, N.S.
