

Peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 16th, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin Geoffrey "Geoff" Thomas Slight passed away at age 72 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Joan Slight.
Geoff leaves to mourn his devoted wife and caregiver, Betty (nee Ingram), and loving children, Chris (Jennifer, grandsons Oliver and Thomas), Cindy (Donnie, grandpuppy, Mia), and Penny. Also left to mourn are Geoff's brother, Bruce (Marlene, deceased), sister-in-law, Evelyn (Ted, nephew Steven), uncle, Don and several cousins.
Geoff was born in St. Thomas, ON, and began his 33-year career with RBC in Winnipeg, MB, moving to Montreal, QC, and settling in Halifax, NS to raise his family. He moved to Ottawa, ON, in 1999 to care for his father and moved back to Halifax in 2012.
Geoff was involved with Scouts Canada for over 30 years. He loved to camp and always looked forward to his semi-annual Cub Scout weekend events. Geoff's other interests included swimming, cars, stamps, coins, card playing, and crosswords. He was an active church member who volunteered on many committees over the years.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd, 10 am at St. John's Anglican Church, 2187 Larry Uteck Blvd, Bedford, NS, Rev. Randy Townsend officiating, reception to follow. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scouts Canada - Camp Harris or Prostate Cancer Canada. The family would like to thank everyone for their support during Geoff's illness, especially the VON, Closing the Gap and the many doctors and nurses who helped care for him.
