(1939 -2015)
George passed away Friday night, March 6th after a ten month battle with cancer. He was born in Yarmouth to Jessie and Guy Earle on February 12, 1939. He moved to Halifax when he was eight and made it his lifelong home. After graduating from Queen Elizabeth High School and Dalhousie University, he became a teacher, vice-principal and principal in the Dartmouth School System. When he retired in 1994 he was able to indulge in his love of travel full time.
He is survived by his wife Anne, son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Marcie and beloved granddaughters Katie and Emily of Tempe, Arizona. They were the love of his life. His travel lust took him to many countries around the globe. He happily spent twenty winters in St. Pete Beach, Florida, his second home. A good life, well lived.
A heartfelt thank you to the VON and the palliative care team at the Victoria General, especially nurse Devon Hennigar, Doctor D Kain, and Doctor Dempster. Their loving care and attention made the process easier.
Arrangements have been entrusted to JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Hfx NS B3S 0E1(902-455-0531). Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in Rockingham United Church in late May when the snowbirds have returned home and his family can be present. Donations can be made to Rockingham United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
