

Gerard Joseph Kelly, Halifax passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2020 from natural causes non-Covid related. Born in Roseville, Prince Edward Island in 1932, he was the son of the late Paulinus and Regina (nee O' Halloran) Kelly.
Gerard will be remembered for his friendly nature and sense of humour. He was highly devoted to his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife Mary (nee McEachern) of 55 years, sons Paul (Deirdre) (Galway Ireland) , Kevin ( Halifax), grandchildren Eamon and Fiona. Also surviving are brother Raymond and sister Rita Dunn of Prince Edward Island.
Gerard attended St. Dunstan’s and Prince of Wales College and after graduation he was employed with the Dept. of Education in P.E.I. Gerard moved to Halifax and became employed with Halifax County Municipality serving for a number of years as Municipal Clerk. He worked 34 years with Municipality where he was commemorated for perfect attendance without missing a single day of work. Gerard also served as Returning Officer for many of Municipal and School Board Elections over the years and was appointed a Commissioner of Oaths.
Gerard was a devout member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church serving as lector several years, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Michael Gniewek ("Doctor Mike"), nurse Sandy Weatherby and the staff from the Spryfield Ravines Medical Clinic for their kindness and compassion.
He will be deeply missed. The family is planning to hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission. (https://www.shrm.ca/)
