

Harold Joseph “Bunker” MacDonald, August 14, 1951 – December 20, 2011. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bunker on Tuesday, December 20th after a brief battle with cancer. Son of the late Michael (Red Mick) and Margaret (Peggy), Bunker is survived by son Bradley, daughters Beth and Meghan and granddaughter Chloe. He is also survived by brother Robert (Linda), sisters Patricia Larkin (Lloyd), Theresa MacKinnon (Peter) and Francis deBoer (Maurice), stepbrothers Bill, Michael and Robert Murphy, stepsisters Maureen Cullin and Donna Murphy, brother-in-law Blaise MacIsaac, sister-in-law Vivian MacDonald, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and other loving family and friends. Besides his parents, Bunker was predeceased by his step-mother Mary, brothers Michael and Kenny and sisters Catherine Anne Dicks and Carol MacIsaac. Bunker resided in Edmonton and was employed with Rio Tinto (Diavik Diamond Mines). Every year, Bunker looked forward to returning east to spend time with family and friends in Cape Breton, PEI, Halifax and Ontario. He always enjoyed spending time outdoors and would always take advantage of any opportunity to go fishing or clam digging in PEI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel in Sydney, NS. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Parish in Sydney, NS with a reception to follow at 2 pm at 325 Newlands Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prostate Cancer Canada. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in 5A Radiation Oncology at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax for the compassionate care shown to Bunker. Keep smiling!
