

Born November 24, 1936 in Sydney Mines, NS. She was predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Francesca Cianfaglione, sisters Vittoria (Laurie) Robertson, Mary (Hymie) Fitzgerald, brothers Frank (Pat), Tony ( Bertie). She is survived by her brother John(Betty) Toronto and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was a sister in the order of Notre Dame but left to pursue her passion as an educator. She taught for more than 23 years. Helen taught Business at JL Isley High School, then moved on to the Department of Continuing Education at the former Queen Elizabeth High School. She studied and received several Masters Degrees. In her retirement she started a career with H&R Block. Her thirst for learning never stopped as she also audited courses just for enjoyment. She spent many years volunteering at Bide Awhile animal shelter, The SPCA, MS Society, NS Art Gallery and assisting people with their personal tax returns. She was also the treasurer for a number of years for CPX, a retired teachers organization. Helen enjoyed her back yard garden and travelling. She travelled to many places but always loved travelling to her ancestoral home town of Pratola Peligna, Italy. Helen loved cats and baseball. In fact, she worked for a short time ushering at Toronto Blue Jays games. Helen was a devout Catholic, attending weekly masses at either St. Catherines Church and St. Mary's Basilica. She was a volunteer at the church in many different capacities over the years.
Arrangements: Snow's Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. October 15th visitation, 5-8pm. Funeral is on October 16, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Catherine's Church, Bayers Rd. Online condolences only.
