Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of Henry and Sarah Elizabeth (Baker) Streeter.
Our mother worked at MT&T in the early years of her marriage to our dad. As we children came along, she became a stay-at-home mom. Our dad was a career member of the military, which often left mother looking after us kids while maintaining our household during what must have been some trying times. She loved her family dearly as well as those of her siblings. She was an active member of the Anglican Church of Canada and had a close spiritual relationship with the Heavenly Father. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting making sure all of the little ones had hats and mittens. She proudly and independently maintained her own apartment and daily living making numerous friends among her neighbors and care team. We celebrate her life as we recall her proudly announcing at family gatherings, “look at what I started”.
Helen is survived by her daughters Debbie Williams, Halifax, Julia Hamilton, Wawota SK. Her son Alan Shiers, Halifax. Her sisters Florence Knickle Dartmouth and Carol Streeter, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
