I took this photo in March 2001 and came across it today.  It was taken at Maritime Life.  I thought it would be nice to share.  

I spent a lot of summer afternoons and evenings on the opposite end of a soccer pitch from Harry.  As competitive a player on the field as he was a gentleman off of it.   We didn't know each other really well, but it was always a pleasure to share a beer or a meal with him after a game or during a tournament.  I'm going to miss seeing him out on the pitch and I'm sure I am not alone.  Sincere condolences to his family.  He will be missed.

I was so deeply saddened to hear of Harry’s sudden passing. He was a good man and I really enjoyed everything about Harry.  To his coworkers and customers he was incredibly talented, conscientious, and dedicated. I was lucky enough to know him beyond work as we both shared a love for music and our discussions would inevitably lead us there.   I will be eternally grateful for the gift of his music to assist in our fund raising efforts for brain tumour research.  He will be missed.  I am so very sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences go out to Harry’s family and loved ones. I worked closely with Harry on a number of projects but I never thought of him as a co-worker, Harry was my friend. He was a fun loving gentlemen with big heart. He will be dearly missed. 

To my dear family in Nova Scotia, I wish I was there to share in your sorrows and your pain. I loved my cousin Harry like a brother. My visits to Halifax were so very pleasant, knowing I was staying with Harry and seeing my cousins. This was the best of “coming back home” - just lots of love, hugs, good food and great visits.

A wonderful surprise that developed through the years was the friendship that blossomed between Harry, Wanda and me. The love of Harry's life soon found a place in my heart, as well. Thank you, Harry!

I shared good times with Harry, Jennifer and Heidi as we were growing up with our two Dutch moms as the sisters who came to Canada in the 1940’s and 50’s. I am so grateful for the loving support we continue to share as family, close in spirit across the miles.

It was heartbreaking to hear of Harry's passing.  It has truly been an honour to have worked with him at CGI over the last few years and to work with someone with so much knowledge, humour and care.  He always came to any meeting with a smile and continually had an idea brewing in the background.  I will miss his bit coin comments during our meeting and him laughing about his own joke.

Please know my family is thinking of you during this difficult time.  Harry certainly left an impact on so many people and I am lucky to be one of them.

I didn't know Harry well. I met him twice, it's true ,he was an immediate friend. He was a kind soul, someone you have always known, light hearted, jovial, you could feel his good energy.
He was my husbands cousin, so he was my family as well . Robert always spoke affectionally of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Wanda, Jennifer and Heidi and all of the family. Rest in Peace Harry!! You will be missed by many!!

Harry worked with us at Halifax Water for three years as a senior consultant in the Information Systems group helping us deliver many projects in a long term plan.  Harry was considered by the entire team to be an expert in his work as an enterprise architect. He  was very meticulous and was a pleasure to talk with on just about any topic, whether about work or life in general, something we often did late in the day after everyone else had left.

We are all shocked by Harry's untimely and tragic passing. He will be sorely missed as a colleague and as a friend. 

Unfortunately, I am not able to attend the visitation this Saturday and I want to offer my sincerest condolences. As a long time member of the IT industry I had met Harry many years ago. I really only got to know him when we started working together at CGI. He ended up working for me for a few years there.  Harry was a very smart, hardworking and dedicated IT professional. Clients appreciated his work, always evaluating him highly in client satisfaction surveys and consistently extending his contracts. In addition to being a highly regarded consultant, Harry was a great person. He was always ready and willing to jump in and help whenever required. He always had a positive attitude and he was always pleasant to be around.  However, what I admired most was Harry’s “even keeled” approach. He never got flustered or upset no matter what the situation. The world would be a better place if we were all like Harry.

We are so saddened to hear about Harry’s sudden passing. We are all thinking of you at this tragic time and wish we could be close by to comfort you with the girls’ big hugs. You and Harry were so wonderful together and it was obvious how much you loved each other. I always looked forward to seeing the posts of all your latest adventures together. We remember meeting Harry on one of your trips to Ottawa. Harry was such a good sport, putting up with the girls’ antics at lunch.

His culinary skills were excellent and oh! that tasty fresh atlantic salmon I was so fortunate to enjoy. Wanda and Harry coached my older son's soccer team  one year. Both were exceptional in imparting their soccer knowledge and love of the game. I am saddened by the too-soon passing of a very good person.  

I met Harry when he started at Maritime Life.  What a great guy.  He was well liked by all.  A fantastic worker.  He was always pleasant and understanding.  He listened and gave good trusting advice and was always there to lend a helping hand.  I’m so glad to have known him and will always have fond memories of him.

The news that Harry passed away really shook our world. Unbearable... so sudden, unexpected, too young, gone too soon. He will be missed terribly, but always remembered for his funny, loving, crazy, caring way of living, his music and love for his family. No ocean too wide, he’d connect... through skype or in person. Our thoughts and our hearts are with you. Love from your relatives in Holland.

So sorry to hear about this. Harry and I worked together at Maritime Life. Always positive and helpful, he was a treat to deal with. Had many a great chat whenever we bumped into each  other at the grocery store. Peace to his family and friends.    

My most sincere condolences to Wanda, Harry’s family, children and grandchildren and also to all the rest of us who knew, loved and appreciated Harry.  Our pasts crossed in so many ways, we played soccer, at different ends of the field at times, sister Heidi was my daughter’s swim coach and my neighbour Kevin, a fellow band member with Harry.  He was a kind man, a dedicated teammate and enjoyed a wonderful sense of humour, he always seemed to be enjoying life to the fullest.  Leaving N.S. years ago has not lessened the impact of his loss on me, we have all lost a fine man, way too soon.

Harry was a great man. That greatness came in many ways but partly came from his genuine personality and honest sense of humanity. Harry and I worked together a long time and I looked up to him greatly - because he had so many qualities I admired.

We’re so sorry for the loss of a great man. He was a soccer coach for our boys and then we were so fortunate to become close friends spending many fun adventures together. We will miss his wit, charm and sing alongs. He was an amazing guitar player- never needing music or lyrics for an endless supply of entertainment! We will miss him terribly and he will never be forgotten!  

A very sad day for the Burgers family and the CGI family, Harry was a kind soul and always had a smile on his face.  We shared many laughs together and i will miss his warm and caring personality.

It’s always been clear, since we moved in across the street, how much love, fun and adventure Harry and Wanda shared together. We’ve watched them load up the bikes, the skis, the camping gear, the gardening supplies, and so on, year after year. We loved to see Harry laughing and carrying on as he celebrated his 63rd birthday with friends and family showing up in a nonstop parade for a social distance lawn gathering this year. It was clear he was well-loved by all. He was always so full of energy and always smiling... sending such love to you Wanda and the rest of his family and friends.
