Iris Mae McGill

McGILL, Iris Mae – 87, of Halifax passed away peacefully on September 26, 2011 at home. She was the only daughter of the late David H and Ida “Dolly” (Geddes) Methven. She was a lifelong resident of Halifax and a member of St. Matthias Church. Her favourite pastimes were reading, especially biographies and mysteries and doing needlepoint and crewel work. In her earlier years, she enjoyed having family and friends for dinner, especially at Christmas and family occasions. She will be missed by many friends made over the years, especially those made during the many trips around Nova Scotia, every summer. She is survived by her husband Raymond L. and only daughter Janell (Claire Schneider). She was predeceased by an infant brother Allan Reginald. Funeral arrangements under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jane Clattenburg on Saturday October 1st, 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Birch Cove with a reception to follow at the church. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Monday, October 3rd at 2:00 p.m. with at reception following the Monday service.
