
Isabel Teresa (Floyd) Wallace, 90, beloved wife of Vernon Wallace, died on May 1, 2017. Teresa was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, a daughter to David and Margaret (Chisholm) Floyd. She came from a large and loyal family of four sons and four daughters.
Teresa attended school at Mount Saint Bernard Convent and then graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics. Teresa then received further Dietician training in Montreal. Teresa worked in Nova Scotia for two years as a dietician. She always wanted to be a teacher and went back to University and took education and Math Courses. She graduated from St. Mary’s University and began her happy and successful teaching career. Her last assignment was at Dartmouth High School where she taught Senior Math.
Teresa was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and for a good many years she was active in the activities of the Parish. She taught Sunday School, was a minister of the Eucharist and a very active member of the St. Vincent de Paul’s Society. For many years, she and Vernon volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her beloved husband Vernon, loyal brother, Father Leo Floyd of Edmonton, loving sister, Anne of Braintree, Massachusetts and sister-in-law, Helen Floyd of Halifax. She is also survived by 10 nieces and 6 nephews, all of whom gave her great joy. Teresa was predeceased by sisters, Mary MacDonald and Eileen Floyd as well as brothers, James, Duncan and Father Robert Floyd.
Vernon and Teresa received and appreciated the care, love and kindness given by their niece, Kathy McKenna and nephew, Duncan Floyd. They were always ready to assist the Wallaces in various ways over the last number of years. A special thank you to Dr. Humphrey for his care over the past 25 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm in J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 5 at 11am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Oxford St, Halifax.
