James Douglas Bancroft

Born in Canso, NS, on February 10, 1931, he was a son of the late James and Nettie (Kirby) Bancroft.

Doug was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick with a Master’s Degree in Forestry. Doug retired as Director of Land Acquisitions for the province in the early 90’s. He was an active member of the Natural Conservancy of Canada, the Eastern Angling Club. He was a proud supporter of UNB and a devoted church member.

Doug is survived by son, Colin (Shelley); daughter-in-law, Brenda; grandsons, Britt, James, and Cory; sister-in-law, Valerie; nieces, Peggy (Bill) Fougere, Gale (Richard) Cote, Susan Joss, Leslie (Larry) Cruikshank, Cathy Joss, Robin Joss; nephew, David (Michelle Landreville) Bancroft.

Doug was predeceased by wife, Elaine; son, Leslie; brother, Brittian; sister, Marie Joss.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 2:00 pm in Bethany United Church, Clinton Avenue, Halifax. Reception to follow the service and a private family interment.
