Jim was an avid fisherman, hunter, loving husband, father and grandfather. He came to Halifax as a young man and found the love and light of his life, Theresa. They were married for 53 years and together raised 5 children and watched 7 grandchildren grow around them. Jim instilled in his children a good work ethic and a strong sense of values. He loved to hunt with his sons at the camp and it was his home away from home when there. He loved to play cards, bingo, socializing and teasing those around him. He was an unforgettable grandfather to his grandchildren and they all have stories to tell about granddad and puppy, from bouncing them on his knee singing “I’se the B’y” to cooking a big turkey dinner every Christmas. Jim was most happy when he was surrounded by his family whether it was a full house at his home on Highland Avenue or later on with 5 or 6 visiting him at Ivany Place. Most of all Jim can be described as a Gentle-Man whose kindness and gentleness touched everyone he met.
Jim will forever be remembered by his children, Ricky (Tami), David, Adam (Katherine), Heather (Stewart) Lively, Gary (Juanita); seven grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas, Jessica, Jade, Carin, Justin, Alex and sister, Dorothy Power. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa, his brother, George Noyer and sister, Emily Noyer.
The family will receive visitors Thursday February 5th from 7-9 pm and Friday, February 6 from 3-5 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, 902-455-0531. Funeral service will be held also at Snow’s on Saturday, Feb 7 at 10 am, Rev. Charles Bull officiating.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Ivany Place, Northwood. Your caring and compassion for Jim were much appreciated. We always knew he was in good hands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ward 5 Neighborhood Centre or a memorial of your choice.
