Jessie Elizabeth Parks

It is with great sadness that the family of Jessie Elizabeth Parks (nee Slack), age 87, of Halifax, announce her passing on March 6, 2014.

She was the daughter of the late James and Myrna Slack.

Jessie was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She and Ross cherished their cottage at Mill Lake and always looked forward to entertaining family and friends there. Jessie was a superb homemaker, admired for her culinary skills and gracious entertaining. She took great pride in her gardens at Mill Lake and at home. Jessie excelled at sewing, knitting and crafts. For more than 20 years Jessie and Ross wintered in Florida at Maple Leaf Estates, where they made many friends.

Jessie’s last years were spent comfortably at Cameron Hall, Parkland Estates. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkland for their caring support and Dr Robert L. Brown who regularly visited Jessie, to say “hi” and to make sure that she was faring well. We are especially thankful to Rita and Merrie from Bayshore HealthCare for attending to her needs.

Jessie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ross and by her sister and 3 brothers. She is survived by her sons Daniel (Sharon) of Dartmouth and Gary (Linda), Second Peninsula and brother Frank (Joyce) Slack, of Truro. She took great interest and pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren Jennifer, Jeffrey, Michael, and Matthew.

There will be no visitation at her request . Cremation will take place under the care of JA Snow Funeral Home, 339Lacewood Dr. Halifax.B3S 0E1(455-0531) A family graveside service will take place at a later date.
