

Burns, Joan Beverly, 73, Halifax, passed away January 22, 2013 while surrounded by family at the QEII. Born in Jollimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie (Mahar) Edwards. She was predeceased by sister Colleen Perry.
“Joanie” loved music, dancing, shuffleboard and making crafts for family and friends. She was a proud sports-mom and avid fundraiser for many years with Fairview minor hockey, lacrosse and football. Joan worked at Sears, Penningtons, Eatons and Burton-Ettinger School before retiring from her career with the Halifax Regional School Board.
She is survived by her husband Michael of 55 years, daughter Kathy (and Kevin) Kennie, son David and son Philip (and Jennie Lutz) Burns, brother Kenneth Edwards, granddaughter Hannah, grandsons Daniel and Owen, step grandsons Lucas and Jacob, brother in law Fred Perry and stepmother Ida Edwards.
Visitation 4-6pm Saturday, January 26 at Snows Funeral Home, 349 Lacewood Drive. Private family service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Special thanks to the dialysis team and all staff of the QEII, especially 6th floor, for their wonderful care over the past year.
