A drop-in celebration of her life will be at Owl's Club, Dartmouth , November 28 1pm-3pm, come as you are.
Born in Upper Kennetcook, May 21, 1929, to Harold and Clara Clarke, Mom completed her BSc in Home Ec at Mount Allison University, and then worked for the dept of agriculture in Truro as supervisor of 4H in NS, and then the children's aid society in Sydney. She married, and moved to Winnipeg, where she was dietician at the hospital there before moving to London Ontario. The three of us then came along and the family moved back to NS, so that became her vocation. Once we were old enough, she started teaching in the Dartmouth school system, eventually upgrading her teacher's licence at Mount St Vincent while working and raising us.
She always had itchy feet and travelled all over the world, volunteering in Kenya with an NGO, climbing Ayers Rock in Australia, trekking in the Himalayas, walking the great Wall of China, riding elephant back in the jungles of Thailand, to name a few. After retiring, she spent many winters in Barbados, right into her 90's.
An avid golfer, swimmer, artist, potter, silversmith, gardener, she had so many interests!
She was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Mildred and Gwen, and infant brother Robert.
She is survived by three daughters, Rosemary(Dan), Tracy(Jim), Tish(Troy), four grandchildren, Hil (River), Eric(Jane), Sophie(Jesse), Tom(Noelle), and great grand daughter, Thea .
Thank you to the staff at Parkstone Enhanced Care for their support in the last three months, and a special thank you to Mom's careworker Vaibhavi Shah, for her loving care while Mom was still in her own home this past year.
No flowers by request. Donations in her name can be made to Soul's Harbour
