John Joseph Broussard of Halifax, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and devoted partner on Sunday, December 14, 2014. John was the son of the late William Broussard and Aldora (nee Desjardins).
John was a loyal and true friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand. John’s strength of character, kind spirit, and generous nature was felt by all who knew him. As a brother, John always provided support when called upon. We were always there for each other, there were good times, we always made it through the difficult times by being together. We have shared many precious and memorable times together.
During the good days John loved the open road and going fast. Motorcycles were his thing. When he wasn’t riding and performing crazy stunts on his bike, he could be found surrounded by bike parts, fixing, shining and tinkering. John was also known for his creativity and his artistic skills. As a pipe fitter John demonstrated an aptitude for math, a keen attention to details and pride in his work.
John took a different path in life always seeking adventure, excitement and risk taking. He lived life to extremes and on the edge, which took its toll in his later years. But what this path has left his family and loved ones with are colourful stories, vivid memories, and a true character that will be surely missed.
John was survived by his loving partner, Linda Poirier; sisters, Jeanette MacLean (Reid), Sheila, his twin sister, Joan (Brian Boucher), Toronto; his nieces, Marianne Sperling (Stephen), and children, (Matthew and Maxwell); Michelle MacLean (Mike Eddy); his nephew, Mark MacLean and family (Hyun-Ju and Hwi-Jin) his sister-in-law, Theresa, and sole surviving Aunt, Donalda Gaudet, many cousins and a large circle of friends.
Predeceased by his parents and brothers, Bernard and Leonard.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lace-wood Drive, (902-455-0531) on Friday, December 19, 2014, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers dona-tions can be made to the QEII foundation or the charity of your choice.
Linda, along with John’s family, would like to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care given to John during his time in the QEII emergency department and the ICU, QEII HI 5.2 ICU.
