Greer, John William (Billie)-59, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at home, on October 31st, 2014, with his family at his side. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, he was the son of the late William and Mildred (MacKenzie) Greer. Billie moved to Halifax with his family when he was a young boy, growing up in the west end. He met his wife Noreen and they married at 19, marking almost 40 years of marriage. Billie worked for Aliant for 30 years, holding multiple positions throughout his time. Billie retired at the age of 49, enabling him to concentrate on knocking things off of his bucket list. Billie was a proud Islander who visited his "home" in PEI every summer. Billie loved to cruise the water in his James Bond boat. Musically inclined, Billie enjoyed music and playing the keyboard. He was a humorous man to those who were fortunate enough to know him. Billie loved spending time with his family and he adored his two beautiful grandchildren, Cohen and Sianna. He is sadly missed by all and will be forever in our hearts. He is survived by his wife Noreen (McInnis) Greer; daughter, Jennifer (Charlie) Brownlow; son, Matthew (Alisa) Greer; grandchildren, Cohen and Sianna; sister, Elizabeth (Greer) Lapierre; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 7-9pm and a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8 at 11 am, both taking place in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, B3S 0E1(902-455-0531). The family would like to graciously thank all of the healthcare providers who helped our father in his fight. Donations in Billie's memory may be made to Feed Nova Scotia.
