Born on April 4, 1929 on Merasheen Island, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, Julia was one of 12 children born to the late George and Cicely (Williams) Wilson.
Following retirement after 32 years of loyal and awarded service to Canada Post, Julia continued her ongoing commitment of giving her time of visiting the elderly, offering support and comfort with her kind words and deeds. She took great pride in her birth roots returning frequently to visit her remaining family and friends in her beloved Newfoundland.
Julia was a woman of great faith, an avid card player, a committed “fast” walker even in her elder years, a lover of nature and the outdoors, and a very independent person taking care of her condo up to the time of her passing. We all will remember her for her love of the simplicity of life itself. Her greatest love was her daily brisk walk always done with determination, a smile and a nod to those she met along the way.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Vivian Bellefontaine (David), Lynn, and Michelle Babin; grandchildren, Julie, Alanna, Geoffrey, Brian, Julia, Duncan, Catherine, Drew, Coady; great grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Aynsley, Caylyn, Joey, Dean, Veronica, Paige, Abigail, Charlotte, Wyatt, Emmanuelle, Chloe, Sophie, Lola, Theo and Kyra; and great -great grandchild, Salem; sister Violet, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation; a memorial service officiated by her nephew, Father William Hann, will take place at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, at 10:00 am on Saturday December 2, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity of your choice.
A goodbye wish from Julia:
“Goodbye my family,
My life has past,
I loved you all to the very last.
Weep not for me
But courage take,
Love each other
For my sake.
For those you love don’t go away,
They walk beside you every day.”
