Kelly Anne Mitchell

We are heartbroken to announce that Kelly Anne Mitchell has passed after an intense but brief battle with cancer on February 21st 2026. Kelly Anne was born March 28th, 1965, in St. John’s Newfoundland. She spent her childhood travelling Canada and Europe with her military family before settling in Bedford, Nova Scotia. In July of 1988 she married the love of her life, Kevin Patrick Mitchell. Soon after they had three children she adored, Lee (Connie Liu), Anna and Caleb. Kelly Anne loved her family. She especially appreciated the weekend “family cruises” Kevin would arrange in the many fun cars he would take home and fix up. Kelly Anne also loved others, regardless of their background or religion. She was curious and asked questions so she could learn all types of world views. She was an avid reader and spent countless hours at her local library. Kelly Anne also loved music of all genres, including punk rock.

Kelly Anne is predeceased by Kevin and by her parents, Dexter and Florence Zinck. She is survived by her children, her sister, Arlette Zinck (Robert Betty) and a large extended family. Her loved ones will think of her when they see teddy bears, manatees, capybaras and, of course, wombats. She will be missed deeply for her bright smile, great laugh and amazing mind.

The family would like to thank the medical team in the thoracic ward of the VG for kindness and care, especially Dr. Ednie, Dr. Cameron, and nurse Annie. Funeral will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Bedford on Monday March 2nd at 12:15pm. Reception to follow in the church hall.
