

Lesley Jane Conrad died peacefully on July 25, 2019, at age 62. Born in Halifax, she was the youngest child of Elizabeth and Arthur Conrad. She lived a full life with Down Syndrome and influenced all who knew her with the power of unconditional love and having a productive working life in the face of daily challenges. For many years she travelled independently by bus to the Prescott Street Workshop and had many friends among co-workers and staff.
Lesley enjoyed physical activity and was a swimmer and bowler, always keen to show her score card. For several years she was a competitor at Special Olympics and was proud of her many medals and ribbons. She participated in the annual family golf tournament at Port Dufferin.
In 2002, she moved with her father to Melville Gardens and since his passing in 2004, she has remained in the care of the wonderful staff there. The family wishes to express their thanks to all members of the caring and attentive health care staff. Lesley's longevity speaks to the level of care. Lesley was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Arthur, in infancy. She is survived by her sisters, Joan (Kempton) Hayes, Barbara (Ian) MacKenzie and Cathy (Jamie) Oland, Halifax, and brothers, Peter (Chris), Whitby, ON, and Paul (Madeline), Halifax, as well as a large and loving extended family. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held and Lesley will be interred with her parents.
