

Passed peacefully away in her sleep on October 27th, Donna (Barton) Chislett aged 63, in Bedford, Nova Scotia, formerly of Goulds, NL. Donna is predeceased by her parents Vincent and Elizabeth (Ryan) Barton and her siblings Aloysius, Mario, Anne and Vincent (Tub). Donna is also predeceased by her parents-in-law Reuben and Gertrude Chislett, North Sydney, her brother-in-law David Chislett, her nephew Dale Maloney and niece Sheena Barton.
Left to celebrate her life is her loving husband Ken of 37 years and her son Ryan and Courtney (Weaver) Chislett whom she dearly loved, also her sisters Betty (Ed) Melvin, Mary Maloney, Louise (Gerry) Brennan, her brothers Tony (Carol Ann) Barton, Msgr. Joseph Barton, her sister-in-law Barbara Barton (Goulds), and Mary Chislett (North Sydney) and many special nieces and nephews and friends especially her dear friends Cathy Lee Murphy (Bestie), Virginia Whitten, Sharon Kirby and Noreen Sullivan.
Donna was an amazing mother and wonderful wife. She was the most thoughtful, selfless woman who brought so much joy to all those around her. We are all better from having loved and being loved by her. The world truly lost an angel and she will be greatly missed everyday.
Donna was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Fall River and was involved in several ministries over the years, especially the Choir, St. Vincent de Paul, CWL, etc. Donna had tremendous devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and led several Pilgrimages to Medugorje.
Donna was well educated and professional in her field having earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Masters of Public Administration Degree from Dalhousie University. Donna received an “Excellence In Public Service Award” from the Premier of Nova Scotia in recognition and appreciation of outstanding service to all Nova Scotians.
Donna loved to travel and she and Ken enjoyed many trips to Europe and other areas. Even at present they were planning for another adventurous journey. Donna's son Ryan was the light and joy of her life always and she was overjoyed when he met the love of his life Courtney and she was so proud of them both.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1st 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at J.A. Snow's Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 11:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 9 Jamieson Dr, Fall River. Interment to take place at a later date in Goulds, NL.
Donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Vincent de Paul.
