

It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Selena MacNeil of Halifax announces her passing, age 91, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Maplestone Enhanced Care nursing home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Halifax March 25, 1934 she was the daughter of the late George and Phyllis (Sibley) Kendall.
After raising her family, Margaret enjoyed a career of 23 years with RBC Royal Bank. She was a member of Stadacona Mixed Dart League (treasurer) for several years. She served on many commissions with St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church – Lay Minister (first female lay minister for our parish) under Rev. Dianne Parker and Rev. Charles Bull, Parish Council for two terms, Warden (first female warden of the Anglican Church in the County of Halifax and the second in the Province of Nova Scotia), the Ladies Guild (treasurer for 28 years) and President, Altar Guild. Her favourite past times included playing cards, bowling, darts, camping, travelling, reading and gatherings with her friends and family.
She is survived by daughters Lynn (Larry MacCarthy), Judy (Hugh Morrison), Paula and son
Wendell (Sharon Kenney), grandchildren Neil (Beth), Natalie (Jose), Christopher (Jessica), Morgan (Matt), Hannah (Chris) and Wendell and great-grandchildren Damian, Jose, Mateo, Lucas, Vincent, Ava and Elena.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Wendell, of 63 years and brother-in-laws Weldon (Winnifred) and Arnold (Effie).
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, May 8, 2025 and the funeral service will be held at St. Margaret's of Scotland Anglican Church, 3751 Robie Street, Halifax (communion service), Rev. Ed Trevors officiating at 11:00 am on Friday, May 9, 2025 followed by a reception in the Church basement. Burial (cremation) in St. John's Cemetery, Halifax afterward. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church or charity of choice.
