Hello, I wanted to extend  my sincere condolences. As a longtime fellow neighbourhood resident I had the honour of meeting  & sometimes brief outdoors walks & chats with friendly Margaret & some of her dogs years before COVID-19 times.  She seemed like a nice lovely lady indeed whom also wonderfully helped volunteer toward some organizations which was very kind of her.  I hadn’t seen her prior to Covid19 times & then recently saw some posts online & sad to read the news.  I miss walking & chatting around some of the neighbourhood with her & the doggies. What a long life indeed & I hope she is resting peacefully.   Condolences to her family & friends & others who were also lucky to have met her in life.     Sincerely, Kelly 

We met Marg  14 yrs ago. Shared in family birthdays and holiday celebrations throughout the years.  Marg was  a blessing to sit down and break bread  with.   She is missed and will be remembered with great fondness.

I first met Margaret when I moved to Melrose Avenue in 1995. She would be out walking her two King Charles Spaniels every day. She always had a lovely friendly welcoming demeanor  and her face would light up in a smile when she met you. I felt a special connection when I found out that like me she had  to also face the challenges that hearing  loss brings on. I got to know her a lot better when Bailey came along and we would drop over to her home to take him for a walk. She was always so thankful and appreciative of any small helpful gestures. Bailey loved her company and when we took him back home from his walk his tail would wag excitedly before he rushed down to the den where Margaret would be sitting on the couch watching TV with the captioning on. She continued  to volunteer and help others for as long as it was physically possible for her to do so. To the end she retained her sharp mind, great sense of humour and as always her kind, caring spirit.

Margaret is the aunt of my Mother-in-law,  Monique, and I first met her at her Niece Josephine’s and Patrick’s wedding in the autumn of 2002. I actually met much of the family that day.  She was giving me the serious once-over as we danced, as if to see if I was good enough for her great-niece Estelle. I am not sure of what kind of impression I made, but we sure had a few good laughs that night.

Margaret has always a very welcoming person to me. She was very kind, generous, and she had a twinkle in her eyes.

On my layovers into Halifax, Margaret and Ken would pick me up from the Lord Nelson and we would visit, or go to the Chinese Restaurant down the hill.
Then they would put a shovel or lawnmower in my hands, and have me tidy up things. I have never seen so much snow. My back is still sore. And then Margaret would send me back to the hotel with some of her famous ribs to bring home.

I warmly remember some great visits with her.

Margaret was a beautiful soul and I miss her already..

To Margaret’s Family we send our Thoughts and Prayers and send our Sympathy during Margaret’s passing, she was our neighbour on Melrose Ave for many years, I will miss our phone conversations and her visits for tea, especially our gathering of neighbours during Christmas.  Her love of her dogs was a happy place for her .   I often found treats in our mailbox as a thank you gift.  Blessings to all.

My memories of Margaret go back to the 1950s to when she was residing in England. She had been staying with our cousin, Dr. Mary Hoogewerf, to whom she was very close, before giving birth to her dear Susan in Bromley Hospital. I recall her proudly bringing Susan to visit us and it was during her farewell visit that baby Susan kept crying. My sister, Bob, then age 3, and I, age 6, decided to put her in a dolly’s bed to go to sleep. It had rockers enabling the two of us to rock Susan to sleep, much to Marg's amusement and delight.

It was 20 years later that she returned to England on holiday and then following the visit, my father, Archie, and I went to stay with her for a fortnight in Halifax. We spent many happy hours laughing, chatting and eating out whilst driving around Nova Scotia.

Marg was always close to my parents, particularly to my mother, Arabella, her aunt, whom Marg had first known when growing up in the Nilgiri Hills in India. They were avid letter writers in the days before computers came into our lives. My mother died just seven months before Marg's own mother in 1996 and from then onwards, she and Archie became correspondents. We last welcomed Marg again to England in the late 1990s, though she and I have kept closely in touch since the 1970s 

I shall always regard her as being poised, gentle-womanly and considerate, even enquiring about my injured arm just a week before God called her from this world. She poured out lessons in love, faithfulness, forbearance, steadfastness and charity through her example. From the bottom of my heart, I thank her for the love and care she showed to my mother, father and myself.

Margaret was an angel: she spread light and love.  Her words were always kind and encouraging. She had a strong and beautiful faith in God, which doubtless succoured her through the vicissitudes of life.  An open heart free of malice, tenderness, meekness, and generosity were gifts she had received from God and which in turn connected her with the divine the more she gave of them.  Imagine volunteering up until the age of 89! God rest her soul and may she have a big place in the kingdom of God. She is missed.  Condolences to the family. 

I could never visit Mrs Miller without being piled high with carrot cakes, lemon loafs and muffins when I left. But as sweet as her baking was, it was nothing compared to her warm welcomes and beaming smiles that would just light up your day and make your problems seem to fade away. I will miss her kindness and wicked sense of humour. She will be missed!

She was my SISTER!  Sisters have a special relationship and mine with Margaret was no different.  I know that I will join her very soon and so no tears are being shed by me on the passing of the person i loved most in the world.  

I always had full confidence in my sister...  She was always honest and saw the truth in everything I told her. She was blunt, but not brutal;  she told it like it was!  She would see the truth in whatever I was  complaining about but she did confuse mood with emotion.  I was guilty of many things and she would be matter-of-fact and truthful.  She saw it what it was!  The scales would fall from my eyes.

    Right now, I miss her annual visits to Ontario and regret that I did not say farewell to her before she left us.  Yet, I will see her in the Here-after very soon and so I am consoled.

    Goodbye Marg!  I'll be seeing you very soon.  We will have a family gathering to celebrate.  Please know that I loved you especially when I lost my temper and you got to receive one of my indignant emails.  

    I will end with a song that those who are too young to know that they wil never see their grandma again:  I speak for those who don't as yet, realise their loss.

One of my earliest memories of our Aunty Margaret is of milk being warmed on the stove on morning of ‘sleep overs’ with my cousins, so that we wouldn’t have to eat our cereal ‘cold’. Even from a child’s perspective, it was easy to see that our aunt’s love for her family was immeasurable and tireless; it poured out of her freely and continuously, even in the smallest and seemingly most insignificant of ways. Throughout her life, all those who were fortunate to know Aunty Margaret were warmed by the same tenderness, kindness, and generosity. 

While everyone was struck first by her beauty, Aunty Margaret also possessed a deep and quiet strength, and an extraordinary capacity to put others first. On innumerable occasions, I was blessed to witness how her strength and selflessness allowed her to overcome tremendous and profound challenges. With courage and grace, she used these experiences to confront difficult truths, and to perfect her innate and boundless ability to forgive and to heal. Aunty Margaret never lost her capacity to trust and to have faith in others. She empowered her children and grandchildren through her selfless example of sacrifice, and by placing her absolute trust in each one of them. She loved each of them fiercely, unconditionally, and unwaveringly – just as she loved her mother, father, sister and brother, and every member of our family, in turn.

My darling Aunty Margaret, I am so very grateful to have been warmed and affirmed by your love and your friendship. I am grateful to have been given an opportunity to learn through your unshakable and steadfast example as a loyal and loving daughter, wife, sister and mother. Thank you for the genuine love you constantly and faithfully poured over me, Brent, our boys and our family. In my three beautiful cousins, I have seen – and continue to see - your tenacity, your wisdom, your kindness, your courage and your passion. I will love you forever and always.

My heart goes out to you Tisha, Elizabeth and your families during this most difficult time.  I have been friends with your mommy for many years and have been blessed to have had her in my life. Her positive, warm and loving presence shone through. She was so caring, and did so much for others, freely giving of her time. I am sure her love touched many hearts; including mine. She always spoke so proudly of her children and grandchildren.  
I had many visits with her over the years when I made the trip to Halifax. Her baked muffins were always served!  I will miss our conversations; her wonderful smile and laughter. One highlight: I will remember with fondness taking her to see one of her favourite performers: Tom Jones. 😊 
I feel so very fortunate to have had a visit with her last month, together with my fiancée, Kelly. Your mommy always made everyone feel so welcome.

I cherished every time I had a chance to see my Great-Aunt. She was a strong and beautiful woman. She will be terribly missed. Generous, kind and smart with a witty sense of humour, she was very funny, and young spirited. Always a big smile and a twinkle in her eyes, she had so much love to give to everyone, and to her 4 legged babies. Living in another province from her siblings, and some of her family spread in Ontario and the world, she embraced and mastered email technology faster than her age could have predicted. When I would write to her, she was so prompt to reply, for many years, a message written in Capital letters, no, she was not yelling, it was her unique signature, it would always make me smile... She would always know what words to write to console, encourage, advice, inspire. I am so grateful for having known her. She is not gone, she lives on in every life she has touched. In our hearts forever.

In sadness at the passing of dear Marg now our hearts go out to her beloved daughters Elizabeth and Tisha, her sister Molly and brother Denis.
I will  fondly remember her as a soft and serene lady. Her inner beauty was reflected in her kindness, love and caring for all.
May her Angels lead her into Paradise where she may rest in eternal peace now.

My Deepest Sympathy to Ken and family: Have known Marge from their cottage at Miller Lake.  Yes you are right she a well outgoing lady and she live a great life.  My husband was a good friend of Ken and we continue to visit with them often.  God Bless you all.

Aunty Margaret was my beloved aunt and Godmother.   She was a beautiful woman, inside and out.  All my memories of Margaret are filled with love and warmth.  She was a constant source of support, compassion and kindness to everyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.  Margaret always put the needs of those she loved before her own.  She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and was always quick to send or reply to an email.  Even one week ago, Margaret was still sending emails  to wish my husband and I a happy anniversary and sending love to our daughter for her 15th birthday.  When I replied and told her how much we loved her, her response was, “Love your beautiful family more”.  Aunty Margaret, you are greatly loved and missed!

For as long I can remember, Margaret always referred to me as “her baby brother”. Even at our advanced ages, she would tell everyone I was her “baby brother”! All through my school days and even in my early university years, she gave me pocket money every month. During the last few years, she would make me feel embarrassed by often sending me $50 to go and eat dosais at an Indian restaurant. I was probably much better off than she was and I finally persuaded her to stop. Then she started sending money to one of my daughters to do the same. Frankly, I felt very badly about it!
After Connie died and I was living on my own, she insisted that I email her every morning before 6 am, even if it just one line telling her what the weather was when I went walking. By 6.05 am, if I had not emailed her, she assumed I was dead and contacted either Mary or Kathy to find out if I was still alive! This caused me quite a lot of grief with my daughters! Eventually, I got her to stop doing this and instead got her to email me and I would immediately reply. I continued to do this almost to the day she passed away. The last few days, I copied Tisha so that she could read my messages to her.
Margaret was one of the sweetest, kindest and loving people I have known. She gave completely of herself to anyone she felt had a need. She volunteered her time. For several years she served Meals on Wheels. All those seniors will miss her very much. 
She attended all four of our daughters’ weddings. All of them loved her very much.
I could write a book describing her but this must be brief. I love you Marg and will miss you very much, particularly every morning at 6 am!

It is with great sorrow and sadness to learn of Margaret leaving us. Although I knew her but a short time, she was a wonderful friend, always demonstrating kindness, caring and interest in others.

My condolences to Margaret’s family. My heart goes out to you all as you say farewell to your loved one. What wonderful memories I have of the parties she hosted for all her friends. She insisted on us taking doggy bags home and we enjoyed these for days. She was such a gracious and beautiful lady and kindness itself. Due to COVID-19 I was unable to return to Canada and missed the final years of her life and for this I am truly sad. I will raise a glass in celebration of her long and wonderful life. 

I am deeply saddened to learn of Marg’s passing and I want to express my deep condolences to her family. I met Marg in 1984 when I began working with her at the Department of Highways in the old Provincial Building on Hollis St. We became instant friends sharing many laughs and some tears and, although we lost touch over the years, we would occasionally bump into each other or communicate electronically. She would always ask about my wife, Carol, and our kids. When we worked together she would always bring in the most scrumptious birthday cake for my birthday and would send me birthday wishes for many, many years after we no longer worked together. This underscores one of Marg’s many virtues, that is, her kindness, thoughtfulness and interest in other people. This is what made her an instant friend to everyone she met. The world is a lesser place without her and my life is better having known her.

My sincerest condolences to you Elizabeth, Tisha and your family. I remember your dear sweet mom,  always so welcoming to your friends. Her smile and sharp wit could make anyone laugh. She was generous, kind and loving and she will be missed by all those who’s lives she touched in some big or small way. I will remember her fondly and most of all her big smile and always insisting we
( Liz’s friends) stay just a little bit longer. I am so sorry for your loss but I know the angels will welcome her home and she will be put to work , helping others from a different realm. My sincerest condolences Liz,  to you and your family. Lee
