With sadness, we announce the passing of Marjorie Jean “Toogie” Wilson (née Woodill), who passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on March 23, 1931, she was the daughter of Roy and Marjorie Elaine (MacDonald) Woodill.
Toogie attended Sydney Academy and Acadia University before beginning her career at the Pathological Institute and later at the laboratory at Oland’s Brewery following her marriage to her beloved husband, Kenneth, who predeceased her, along with their daughter, Vicki.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Gary (Joanne), daughter Laura, and her cherished granddaughters Jessica and Mykayla. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Sutton, Miller, and Eloise.
Toogie was a well-known and highly respected member of the Halifax golf community, with a lifelong connection to Ashburn Golf Club that spanned nearly 80 years. During that time, she devoted countless hours to supporting the Club and advancing women’s golf in Nova Scotia.
A talented golfer and passionate supporter of the sport, Toogie celebrated many accomplishments throughout her life. In recognition of her dedication and contributions, she was honoured with the Ashburn Digby Lynch Award in 1999 and the Women’s Spirit Award in 2016.
Toogie treasured the many years she spent in Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine, golfing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
More than her achievements, passion for golf and enjoyment of warm weather, however, she will be remembered for her kindness, welcoming spirit, and the meaningful influence on family and friends.
Cremation has taken place, and a visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at J. A. Snow Funeral Home.
