

We sadly announce the passing of our dear and lovely mother, grandmother and sister Mary Margaret, age 64, on Monday, October 24 at Arbourstone Enhanced Care Home on Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax. She had a long and difficult struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and faced it so bravely.
Mary was born on January 6, 1952, the fifth of fourteen children of the late Frank and Agnes (MacNeil) Zareski of Dartmouth, later of Chezzetcook. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Brown of Halifax and was a busy mom to her three sons Alex, Donald and David (Erin) and to her daughter Stephanie. She adored and was adored by her two grandchildren Fallon and Brogan OHearn-Brown.
Mary was predeceased by two sisters Elizabeth and Christine and leaves behind sisters and brothers Shelly, Terry (Barry) Smith, Michael (Gail), John, David (Joan), Peter, Kathy (Peter Greenwood), Gerald (Norma), Jacqueline, Jim and Tony (Denise). Mary will also be missed by her many nephews and nieces... Jill and Megan Smith, Joseph and Tony Zareski, Kate and Luke Zareski, Sophie Martel, Alex, Laura and Mary Ellen Greenwood, Patrick Murphy, Emma and Samantha Zareski and Ethan, Sylas and Issac Zareski. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Betty Brown, family and beloved long time friend Colin Gillis.
Mary dedicated most of her life to helping others with volunteering and charity work. She had an eye for art and fashion and spent many long hours creating beautifully hooked rugs for friends and family to enjoy. She loved looking over the water of the Northwest arm and sharing a cup of tea with her many friends that were always welcome into her home. Our thanks go out to the caring staff at Arbourstone. Cremation has taken place. Visitation Thursday October 27, from 3 – 7pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive. Funeral service 10 am Friday October 28th at St. Agnes Parish Mumford Road, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society, Atlantic Division.
