Mary Ellen Wills

It is with deep sorrow, that we announce the passing of our mother Mary Ellen Francis Wills (MeMe), who left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 7th at the age of 58. MeMe as she was referred to by her friends, was the daughter of the late Linda and Gerald Wills of Halifax, NS. She is survived by her sisters, Deborah Wills, Kimberly Wills-Mattison (Mike), Dr. Sherrie Wills (Jimmy); children, Lynnette and Edwin Drummond and grandchild Savanna (PoopyDoop) Drummond. She is also survived by her stepmother Lorraine Wills as well as many nephews, cousins, one aunt and one niece. MeMe graduated from Dalhousie University with an advanced double major in Sociology. She then went on to work for Tawaak housing as well as the Mi’kmaq friendship center. Our mother was a big lover of life and loved to read. She had a thirst for knowledge and had a spunky attitude and was a fighter to the end. Her granddaughter Savanna was her closest friend and her light when she had troubling times. We would like to thank the staff of the Veterans Memorial Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary Hospital for taking care of our mother over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 142 in Fairview March 18 from 6-10pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB Halifax.
