Matina Xidos

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Matina Xidos. She died peacefully on November 12, 2013 surrounded by loving family.

Matina was born in Paparis, Greece on January 10, 1932 to George and Konstantina Kakamousias. She came to Canada in 1957.

Survived by her husband of 49 years, Emmanuel; son, George (Connie) Xidos; grandchildren, Eva Xidos, Sheila MacNeil; brother, Konstantinos (Antonia) Kakamousias; sisters, Vasiliki (late Gerasimos) Dimitropoulos, Angeliki (late Kostas) Karlos, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Martha (Louis) Migas.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2-4 & 6-8 pm at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531). Funeral Service will be on Friday, November 15th at 1:30 at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax. Father Panayiotis Maropoulos officiating. Burial to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Greek Orthodox Church or the Kidney Foundation.
