Maura was the youngest of six daughters born to the late Florence (Chisholm) and Herman Jamieson of Halifax.
She was a devoted mom to her four kids, a medical secretary, a music teacher and a choir organist. Her gift for turning-a-phrase on any occasion, “Your horn works, now try your signal” and wry humour, were her recipe for turning lemons into lemonade. Not one to go silently into the night, she once quipped when faced with death “I could really go for a Manhattan,” followed by, “How long is this (dying) supposed to take?!” She was predeceased by her siblings Florence Ross, Sr. Constance Jamieson, Bernadette Crookshank, Miriam O’Neill, and Clare Jamieson. She was also predeceased by the father of her children, Dr. Charles Brennan, and by her daughters Andrea and Maureen. She is survived by her sons Michael (Kathy) and Gary (Sharon); six grandchildren, David, Liana, Jamieson, Bethany, Sean and Glenn, and many nieces and nephews. She spent every ounce of life before leaving us, and will be greatly missed.
Thank you to Closing the Gap for their home care services, and to the staff of Caritas, DePaul Hall.
Cremation will be followed by internment at William Black Memorial Cemetery, Glen Margaret, where her remains will rest along side her daughter, Andrea. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
