It is with a heavy heart filled with great sadness that we inform everyone of the passing of Mildred (Millie) Irene Wagner. Millie was born in West Berlin, Lunenburg County on July 11, 1930 of parents Irene V. Boutilier and Carmen M. Wagner and raised by her aunt and uncle Vera Amelia Boutilier and Willis Albert Boutilier. A dear and wonderful friend to all who knew her, Millie was taken home by our heavenly father, to sing with the angels, on April 22, 2023.
Millie worked for and retired from Canada Life Insurance Company for many years.
A 73 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Millie was lovingly, and well known throughout both provinces as she and her best friend Marion Conrad travelled far and wide visiting every Chapter within the jurisdiction. Millie loved and enjoyed meeting and the loving fellowship with all, her Sisters and Brothers, over the years. As quoted by the Grand Secretary of the Order of the Eastern Star on Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, “ Sister Millie was a great example of service to OES and particularly to all the Chapters to which she belonged, even at the wonderful age of 92. She was proof that, unless ill, age is not a deterrent to holding offices, even when one is in her 90’s.”
Millie was an active participant in the Daughters of the Nile of Athena Temple # 149, happily and willingly serving in many offices throughout her years of membership.
“Millie will be missed by all who loved and knew her!”
There will be a Celebration of Life service for Millie on May 8th, 2023 at Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax at 11:00 a.m. The Service from the book of Common Prayer (officiated by Rev. Dr. Paul Friesan, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Halifax) will be followed by Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile memorial services. A brief reception will be held from 12:00 pm. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, following the service.
Interment will take place on Monday May 15 at 10:00am in St. Peter’s Anglican Church Cemetery in Hackett’s Cove.
