

Born on November 8, 1919, in Rose Cumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Winnifred (Roberts) Halliday and was raised by the Gray Family of Sambro Head from the age of 3 years old. Neta is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Earlier in life she enjoyed working at the Lord Nelson Hotel and later in life at the Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. Neta enjoyed spending time with her family. She had several passions which included knitting, baking, and quilt making, and she shared a lifelong appreciation with her husband Oliver of Newfoundland music.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her five sons, Ron (Cecilia), Brookside, Lorne (Kathy) Halifax, Sheldon, Gatineau, Que, Marvin (Joan), West Pennant, Wade (Jackie) Williamswood, daughters, Pam (Roland) Drevininkas, Toronto, Elaine (Rick) Wiwiczor, Williamswood. She is loved and will ever be cherished by 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Oliver; sons Ray, Larry, George; daughter Bonita; brothers William, Ernest; sister Louie Mae. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Tuesday July 9th 2013, in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral service will be held at St. James United Church, Sambro on Wednesday, July 10th at 1:00 pm with Rev. Sally Budge and Rev. Jeanne Henneberry officiating. Burial will take at St James United Church Cemetery in Sambro. A reception will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Neta Schnare to St James United Church or Charity of your choice. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of ward 8.2 Halifax Infirmary and to Rhonda Gray, Bev Settle, and Leanna Marryatt.
