

Age 91, of Halifax and West Dublin, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Melville Gardens, Halifax. Born in Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Wiswell and Phoebe (Corkum) Wile. She is survived by her daughter Jackie (Ron) Clarke, Bridgewater, her son Christopher, Halifax and grandson, James (Carol Anne) Clarke, Waverley. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell (Bud) Hynes; brother, Fred Wile; sisters, Olive Kinsman, Rhea Cleversey; and other family members. Norma moved to Halifax as a young woman and during World War II one of her early jobs was working at a munitions factory in Quebec. On her return to Nova Scotia she continued to work hard for most of her adult life. She was a long-time civilian employee of the Armed Forces at numerous locations including the Gorsebrook Base and Stadacona Hospital, working in dietary and food service. Upon her retirement she continued to serve by assisting Seniors for Seniors. Norma was a humble and caring person and had an enduring faith. She was devoted to her family and was a warm-hearted friend to all. She had a great love for animals and provided a good home to many wonderful furry friends over the years. A very special thank you is extended to all the staff at Melville Gardens who provided a caring and safe home for Mom. Your compassion is truly appreciated. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at Snow’s and will commence at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 15. Rev. Russell A. Saulnier will officiate. Family burial will take place at Brookside Cemetery, West Dublin. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia , the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Nova Scotia SPCA.
