It is with loving memory of a wonderful childhood that Greg, Linda, and Debbie are saddened to announce their Mother’s passing on March 3, 2018 at the age of 91. Norma (Mom, Nannie) is now in the loving arms of her Saviour to be once again reunited with the love of her life, our beloved father, Mason, who predeceased her in 2004. Their faith in the Lord was their guiding light throughout their lives here on earth. We take great comfort in knowing that they will celebrate new beginnings together now.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Susan) Halifax; daughters, Linda (Val), Calgary and Debbie (David) Big Pond. Grandsons, Greg (Leigh), Halifax, Chad, Halifax, Ryan (Victoria) Sydney, granddaughter, Heather ( Brad), Sydney, great grandsons, Cole, Tyler, Noah, Sam and Landon. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Heffler and Joan Eagles and many nieces and nephews.
Norma and Mason were very active members of many baptist churches in the metro area. Norma was a Sunday School teacher at Birch Cove Baptist Church and taught Mission Band as an outreach program to children in the neighbourhood. She was also involved with the Women’s World Day of Prayer and spoke frequently at various churches in the Metro area. Our family spent many wonderful years camping with the Kingfisher Kampers group of the NCHA. Prince Edward Island was a second home to all of us as we spent almost every summer on the north shore near Stanhope.
Family was her pride and joy, she provided a loving, supportive environment for her children and grandchildren. Her strong faith was a guiding focus as she and Mason raised a loving family. She was an accomplished seamstress, a skilled crafter and an excellent cook. She was a wonderful mother, she made all of our clothes and Halloween costumes and treated us to her donuts, her cream puffs, and her brown bread. She always made sure that we came home from school to fresh cookies from the oven.
She will be greatly missed by all of us, but we know someday, we will all be together again. A Celebration of Life will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive in Clayton Park on May 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s name, to a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
Special thanks to her Grandsons Greg and Chad for being with our Mother in her final hours. Also many thanks to the wonderful staff at Parkland and Parkstone, Halifax, for their dedication and compassionate care of our Mom over the past many years.
