Patricia Wallace

Patricia was born in Halifax to Reginald and Barbara McColough. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart, where she made many lifelong friends. In 1948 she married Ron Wallace and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2008. Patricia was devoted to Ron's political life as Liberal MLA and later as Mayor of Halifax.

Patricia was a devout Catholic and a long-standing member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She loved competitive bridge, achieving the highest level of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League.

Patricia was an extraordinarily kind and generous person whose true passion was her family. She devoted her life to raising six children in a home filled with warmth, laughter and wonderful home-cooked meals where there was always room for one more at the table. Her children and her grandchildren were the centre of her being and brought her pride and delight every day of her life. She was truly the heart of our family and will live on in our hearts forever.

Patricia is survived by son-in-law Bill Presse, husband of her eldest daughter Barbara, who predeceased her in 2005, and children Suzanne (Don Presse), Mary Beth (Adam Antczak), Ian (Gail Hogan), Mark (Anita Lorelli) and Jennifer (Sergei Shirokov), and grandchildren Andrew, Nick, Allison, Barbara, Ian, Elizabeth, Stuart, Claire, Duncan, Kate, Kevin, Jack, Julia and Jacqueline, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Ron and daughter Barbara, she was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Peter, Reg and Barbara Jean.

Our family expresses our sincere gratitude to Janette Deganis and to all of our mother's other devoted caregivers.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at Canadian Martyrs Church at 11 am on Friday May 2. Reception to follow in the Canadian Martyrs Church Hall.
