

Born in Newport, PE in 1922, he was the son of Captain William Sigsworth and Catherine (Walker) Sigsworth. He attended local schools in Newport and Georgetown, followed by Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown and Dalhousie Medical School in Halifax, graduating in 1946. Post-graduate training in pediatrics was at the New England Medical Centre, Boston, Mass., and New York City Hospital, N.Y. Pius returned to Halifax in 1953 and took up clinical and teaching positions at the IWK Hospital and Dalhousie Medical School. He was also on staff at The Grace Maternity Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary. Along with his wife Marion, he maintained a private pediatric practice until retirement in 1990. He was a member of The Nova Scotia Medical Society, The Canadian Medical Association, The Atlantic Provinces Pediatric Society, The Canadian Pediatric Society, the American Pediatric Society and was a Fellow of the Royal Collage of Physicians of Canada. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas/Canadian Martyrs parish, and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus.Pius is survived by son Bill (Catherine Richard) Sigsworth and grand-daughter Emma Sigsworth of Sackville NB, as well as brother Newman (Rita) Sigsworth of Charlottetown PE, and sister Hester Kenny of Medway Mass.. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion Louise (Madden) Sigsworth, brother Michael, Newport, PE, and sisters Genevieve, Marblehead, Mass., and Jean, Marlton, N.J.. Visitation to take place on Thursday, December 29 from 6-8 pm at J.A.Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral Service on Friday, December 30 at 11am at St Thomas Aquinas Church, Oxford Street., Halifax. Urn burial at a later late in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Halifax.
