

Age 76 of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by her family on Wednesday May 15th, 2019. Renee was born in 1943 in Hasroun, Northern Lebanon to Boulos & Genevieve Saouma.
Nina and her husband, Sassyne, emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1961. She was also known as Nina to her family and friends. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 40 years old, she never let it defeat her or change her cheerful nature. Her joy came from being around her family and watching it grow. Family gatherings were special to her, allowing her to see all her loved ones together. She loved spending time with her friends, playing a game of cards and watching old reruns on TV. She also looked forward to her special treat of the day, dessert. Nina was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring sister; and an amazing Teita and more recently, a great-grandmother.
Renee is survived by her husband of 57 years, Sassyne (Sam) Amyoony. She is predeceased by her parents, Boulos & Genevieve (Younes) and her brother Boutros (Peter) Saouma. Renee is survived by her sister Houda (Elias) Ramia and by her children, Paula (George) Joukhadar, Viviane (Jonathan) Holman, Gennifer Amyoony, George Amyoony, Teddy (Blanca) Amyoony, Renee is also survived by her 8 grand-children and 1 great grand-son.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 17 from 5:00-8:00 pm at JA Snow Funeral Home in 339 Lacewood Drive Clayton Park.
Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 18 at Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church 2480 Windsor street Halifax.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church building fund
