
WALSH, Rita Montgomery - 94 of Halifax passed away on March 16, 2013 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born on February 21, 1919 in Parrsboro, she was the daughter of Clarence and Etta (Lewis) Brown. Rita was a dedicated mother who raised her two sons and invested countless hours in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always took time to care for those around her, looking after children and the elderly. She worked as a caregiver, cook, superintendent and many so many other roles that she seems to have worked in every corner of Halifax. She was an avid traveler always ready to drive anywhere from Cape Breton to New York and has visited Los Angeles, Surrey, and London England. She may be best known for her passion for crafting and cooking, creating everything from wedding cakes to knitted baby sets for royalty. Survived by Shirley Church; grandsons Ross, Peter, Troy, Neil, and Christopher; many great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Ross Herbert Rushton; second husband Thomas Walsh; and sons George Thomas and Clarence Leslie Rushton. Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 26 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax with Rev. Stephen Ashton officiating. A private interment will be held at the Diligent River Anglican Cemetery, Parrsboro later that afternoon. Donations in memory may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halifax.
