SLAUNWHITE, Robert G. (Bob) – It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my Dad. Robert G. Slaunwhite - 84, of Halifax N.S., passed away February 20, 2012 at Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building, Halifax.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Pearman and Elizabeth Slaunwhite (Halloran). Bob was a proud member of IBEW 625 (retired) for over 60 years. A membership he was very proud to be a part of. He loved being an electrician. In mid 40’s Dad was proud to have served in the Merchant Navy and going overseas during the war. He loved fly fishing in his leisure time.
He is survived by only daughter Glenna (Colin) Slaunwhite who was his favourite date on many occasions, especially the IBEW local 625 Christmas parties and the retirees dinners; sisters Shirley (Bill) Redmond, Ottawa and Joyce Brown of Halifax; his best fishing buddy and brother-in-law who he loved like his own brother Tom Abriel; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Bob is predeceased by a brother Stanley and a sister Bernice in infancy.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Friday, February 24 from 6-9pm. Memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.

Many thank yous to Dad’s “angels” and “Danny Boy” of 5E Garrison at the VMB for their kindness, helpfulness and gentle caring of Dad during his 10 month residency. A special thank you to Tom Abriel whose help throughout the past year has been wonderful. Just to say thank you does not seem to be enough. God Bless.
