With utter sadness and total despair, I share with you the passing of my dear husband, soul mate, partner and best friend, Robert Allan Wilson. Bob passed away at the QEII, Halifax Infirmary site on October 28, 2021, at the age of 72. He was born in Waterville, in the Annapolis Valley, on January 28, 1949, youngest child of the late Annabelle (Smith) and James M. Wilson. He is survived and will be deeply missed by me, Greta Wilson (Hazel), his loving wife of 20 years; sons, David (Leah) and Adam (Lysa), as well as beautiful grandchildren, Aidan, Ewan, Edie and Ronan. Also surviving are sister, June (Blair) and nephew Sean (Emily), all of Toronto. He was predeceased by brother, James Wilson. Bob graduated from Acadia University in 1969. From there, he pursued an interesting and rewarding career in the insurance and investment business, until his retirement in 2014. His clients will remember him for his honesty, integrity and total commitment, when it came to preparing and planning for the security of their future. Throughout his lifetime, Bob enjoyed working and serving in the community on various committees and boards. Some of these include Scout Leader (beavers, cubs and scouts); Assistant Coach, minor baseball and minor hockey; Town Councillor – Town of Kentville, 1987 to 1990; Chairman Police Commission Town of Kentville; Past President LUAC (Halifax Life Underwriters Association); Past Chairman of the Canadian Association of Police Boards; Past member of the Canadian Police Race Relations Committee; One of the founding members and Director at Large of the Nova Scotia Association of Police Boards; Past member of the Halifax Port Authority Board of Directors; Past President of the Halifax Needham Liberal Association; Past candidate for Kings North Liberal Association; Past President Kentville Minor Hockey Association; Past Vice President, Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival. He was also an Associate Member of C.F.B Halifax and Royal Artillery Park Officers Mess, as well as the Heart for Life program at St. Mary’s University. Bob and I lived a wonderful life, full of many fun times, including travels to Portugal, Greece, Jamaica and Hawaii, to mention a few, as well as a river cruise on the Danube, ocean cruises to various parts of the Caribbean, and many trips to Florida. He fought his numerous health battles with patience, courage, determination, positivity and last, but not least, humor. All who met him remember his wonderful smile, calm presence and friendly demeanor. He was truly an amazing, warm and exceptional human being. My world has been forever made richer by having the privilege of sharing my life with him. At 1:00 on Thursday, November 4th, 2021, we will hold a celebration of life at Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Highway, followed by a visitation in the church hall. Proof of double vaccine is required, along with identification. Masks must be worn at all times. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.
