It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend Sally Jean Wagg (Crawford). She is survived by the love of her life Ron, son Steven - wife Hilary, daughter Jennifer and son David - wife Natasha, grandchildren Caelyn, Kenadie, Hayden and Reegan. Also survived by her sisters Diane, Judy and brother Frederick. Predeceased by her father James Wilfred Crawford mother Isabel Crawford and sister Cathy Whitfield (Crawford).
Born in Fredericton/Woodstock Sally grew up in New Waterford Cape Breton with her brother and three sisters. After graduating from Mount Carmel High School she made her way to the big city of Halifax where she studied at NSIT. One fateful night she met a handsome young newfie named Ron and from there Sally’s life was filled with precious memories. Sally and Ron were married for 1 week shy of 53 years. A dedicated member of the RCMP, Ron was stationed in many places across Nova Scotia. Each place Sally found new friends and made a home for her family. An extended stay in Port Hawkesbury led to a career helping the less fortunate and lifetime friendships. Sally and Ron spent immeasurable hours dedicated to volunteering in the community from the old rink canteen in Port Hawkesbury to Meals on Wheels in Bridgewater.
Sally had strong faith in God and prayed each and every day for her family and whoever needed a spiritual boost from beyond. Manners were instilled early with please and thank you being a necessity. Sally always looked for the good in others and wanted to ensure her children always did the same. Her advice and unwavering love will be treasured, remembered and etched in our souls. She will be retired as the greatest stain remover of all time with magician-like abilities. Her soft hand, caring touch and huge heart will be missed by anyone who had the privilege to know her. Memories of the spicy side and not so subtle comments will continue to bring smiles and laughter. Laughter was common in the Wagg household and more laughter often ensued when Sally started to laugh (cackle).
Sally spent countless hours watching her children and grandchildren grow up in rinks, at highland dancing events, playing volleyball and tennis and of course the soccer pitch. Even with all the sports and activities she always wanted the family at the table for dinner. Family dinners have grown in size and varied in location but always meant the world to her, making every effort to accommodate schedules to make it work. Family trips and adventures have also evolved over the years. From the first new adventure, taking a new baby boy across many states and across Canada, Sally made memories along the way. Summer trips to Newfoundland, an adventure to Florida with three kids in a cramped car and then later in life many winters in sunny South Carolina and Florida. No vacation or gathering was complete without numerous pictures to capture the happiness she shared with her family.
Golf held a special place for Sally as she enjoyed many rounds on countless courses with her loving husband, children and even grandchildren. Any opportunity to spend time with family and friends was cherished, especially Christmas. Sally made the Wagg Christmas legendary from the early days which grew from 3 to 5 and eventually to 11 and many grand puppies. Retirement life at the lake was peaceful with many floats, walks, the occasional piece of chocolate, picking weeds and visits from family, friends and especially grandkids. Although not needed, Sally loved her recipes that produced iconic pancakes, sweets and turkey feasts. She did it all and created enough memories to fill the hearts of those who will miss her so much. Hope you had a chance to get some lipstick on before you arrived at the pearly gates. We love you.
A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
