Sheila Ursula Hazel Dixon

23 mai 195615 mai 2020

63, wife, mother, sister and dear friend to so many, died at her home Friday, May 15. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor last Thanksgiving, after having survived her battle with lung cancer just 2 years before.

Sheila is survived by her husband of 45 years, Brian, their two children, Jamie (Ian) and Dwaine, their four grandchildren, Aiden, Carter, Scarlett and Logan, sister Sharon, brother John (Doris), brothers-in-law Jeff (Brampton) and Alan (Halifax), best friends of 50+ years, Sharon and Sue, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are all dear family she loved most in life.

Sheila was the person everyone called with good news to share a laugh, or to listen in a crisis. She shared advice, and gave freely of her time to help others in any way she could; sew a hem, bake a pan of brownies, take care of them while they were down.

She loved children, and had once dreamt of being a nurse or a teacher, but chose to stay home and raise her family, while helping to grow and support her husband’s businesses. Her house was always a home, not only to her children, but for a time, her grandchildren, sister, brother, mother and other friends and relatives in need of her kindness and generosity.

She loved to entertain and host big family dinners for holidays and barbeques around the pool, making sure to bake each person’s favorite dessert. There was always enough for one more.

Her annual trips “down south” with her family and friends became one of her favorite things to talk about all year long, as she planned and anticipated the next one.

A memorial service will be held in the future when social distancing allows. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory.

If we could have a lifetime wish A dream that would come true We’d pray to God with all our hearts For yesterday and you.

A thousand words can’t bring you back We know because we’ve tried… Neither will a thousand tears We know because we’ve cried…

You left behind our broken hearts And happy memories too… But we never wanted memories Only more time with you.

Dear Jaime and family,

I'm so very sorry for your loss of your mum. She was quite the lady from what I remember.

It's very strange that I stumbled across this obituary, researching something for work. ~All these years later, the way the universe works always amazes me.

There are just no words that can ease your pain. I wish there was.

May you find comfort in your memories. Sending you strength. Oxo
