Shirley Martha Estey

Shirley passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on December 18, 2024, in Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax, NS. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Martha (Coolen) MacInnis. Shirley is survived by her daughters Donna (Randy) Webb and Cathy (Paul) Smith; grandchildren Michelle (Steven), Mark (Michelle), Scott (Stacey) and Stephani (Ryan); and, great-grandchildren Allison (Ben), Caitlin (Kyle), Elliotte, Emmett, Blayre, Ellie, Maddie; and, great-great granddaughters Brielle and Elayna; nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband James (Jim) Estey and siblings Bill MacInnis, Joan and Joyce MacInnis. In her early life Shirley was a telephone operator for MT&T and later at the Victoria General Hospital. She was happiest when spending time with her family and baking her famous pound cakes. She and Jim enjoyed many winter vacations in Florida. Rest in peace, Mom. You will forever be in our hearts. We would like to thank Dr. Judith MacNeill, Dr. Claire Nowlan, the nursing team and staff on 6E at the Veterans’ Memorial Building. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
