Lynne, Donna and Earl all of Ontario.
Shirley had a long and varied career, starting work at the young age of 14, at the Glace Bay General Hospital. She worked for a number of years at Cadigan Fish Plant and the Sydney Steel Plant in the early 1970s. She worked at the Steel Plant for over 30 years in various departments which included the hospital as a domestic, the General Office as a telephone operator, in accounts receivable and the drafting department. She was a devoted member of Epworth United Church in Glace Bay and enjoyed participating in the (Loonie Ladies) luncheons and providing baked goods for many events. Bingo was a favorite hobby {although she rarely won], but when she did, everyone was guaranteed KFC. Shirley dearly loved the holiday season and there was not one square inch of 1 Main Street that was not decorated. She was also a Mom to many pets including Husky, Ryan, Buddy and most recently, Huey Dan. She loved music and dancing around the kitchen. A heartfelt thanks to Continuing Care and Bayshore Home Health and personal caregiver, Loretta Schnurr who became one of the family and a favorite of Huey Dan. Shirley's beloved friend Debbie Boutilier of Glace Bay provided and unending supply of love, friendship and support, as did Rev. Elaine Walcott and her second Son Joe Walcott, who she adored. Much gratitude is also extended to Koinonia Baptist church for their spiritual guidance and love. She was a great judge of character and did not suffer fools lightly. Shirley's beautiful warm smile, infectious laugh, and her gift of seeing the best in people and making the most of difficult life challenges are lessons that will be in the hearts of family and friends forever.
