Age 76, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017. Born December 19, 1940 in Barrie, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel Stevens. She was named after her birth place, but was known to all as Sue. After graduating nursing school, Sue’s quest for adventure took her from coast to coast. She started nursing in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, then travelled to Toronto, Ontario, and also worked in Prince Rupert, B.C. It was out west where she met the love of her life, the late Stephen McNair. After brief stops in Winnipeg and Toronto, she followed Stephen to Halifax, her home since 1972. Sue had a great sense of humour, loved swimming, and played games and musical instruments. She especially enjoyed her nursing years in coronary care at the Victoria General Hospital. She was predeceased by sisters, Eilleen (Jack) Jewison and Beverely (Bill) Bradley. She is survived by nephew, Gary (Nadine) Jewison, niece, Mary Ellen (Cory Vandernet) Jewison, as well as great niece, Melissa, great nephew, Kelly, and great great nephew, Levi. Honouring Sue’s wishes, a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the JA Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive, Halifax, followed by a small graveside memorial for family members at St. John’s Cemetery.
