Age 93, of Halifax, passed away suddenly, at home, on July 19, 2019. Born on the LaHave Islands, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Vera (Himmelman) Hirtle. Vivian is survived by son, Neil (Joan); grandchildren, Laura (Danielle), Benjamin (Melissa) and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Keith and Evalyn; sister, Nina Teal; and her good friend, Capt. Earle Wagner. She was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Ronald Sponagle; brothers, Ellsworth and Marshall Hirtle; and sisters, Doris Smith and Phyllis Haughan. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VON or charity of choice.
